V juniju 2008 je tako Facebook obiskalo že 538.000 unikatnih obiskovalcev. Vodilni japonski portal za socialno mreženje na japonskem je Mixi.jp, ki je imel junija 12,7 milijona obiskovalcev a le 3 odstotno rast. Drugi Myspace je imel junija približno 1.2 milijona obiskovalcev in 10 odstotno letno rast, Googlov Orkut pa je le malo pred Facebookom, ki je svoj pohod na japonski trg šele dobro začel, saj je bil šele pred kratkim preveden v japonski jezik.
